Luxemburg
recognizes the Genocide of the Armenians, through the Parliament which voted
the resolution unanimously. Luxemburg’s members of the parliament had received
pressures on behalf of the ambassador of Turkey, but they considered this as
unacceptable. Thus they followed the strategy of the European Parliament and
recognized that the facts of 1915 can be characterized only with the word Genocide
and no other.
In this manner they accuse both the Ottoman Empire who initiated
the Genocide and the Young Turks and Kemal who continued it. In other words
Luxemburg changed positions radically with this decision and managed to
overtake Germany, which after the statements of its President and its
Chancellor is preparing for the recognition by its parliament. It is an
interesting fact that Luxemburg, although its size, is one of the founding
members of the European Union and comes to reinforce the context of the core
towards the same direction, that is of the human rights. The anniversary,
hence, works indeed as a catalyst for the recognitions and proves that the
committee which the Turkish governmental institute appointed to mine any effort
of recognition is not nearly effective. Something which practically means that
the free countries do not fear the Turkish pressures and continue to produce
the work due for Time and Humanity through the recognitions of the genocides.
