Spain lived centuries of occupation and Cordoba was tortured more than any other city, as it had to become the example to remember. Of course the construction began with imitation so as to avoid innovation because they did not want it to outstand, but simply to exist so every future dispute would be out of context. Yet the influence of Roman Spain appeared again, because the stones of the basilica Church of the witnesses of the Saint had not forgotten his memorial.
